OTS Logo

Founded in 1963, OTS is a nonprofit consortium of more than 50 universities from the United States and Latin America dedicated to providing educational and research opportunities for students and faculty in the tropics and to provide leadership in the responsible use of tropical natural resources. OTS conducts graduate and undergraduate education, facilitates research, actively participates in tropical forest conservation, maintains three biological stations in Costa Rica, and conducts innovative environmental education programs.
SIU Logo Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been a member of the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) since 1993.

Graduate opportunities with OTS include coursework and post-course research grants. An undergraduate Summer Semester and Junior Year Abroad program are also available.
