ADVISEMENT CENTER |
Overview |
AppointmentsEARLY ADVISEMENT APPOINTMENTS are given out beginning the second week of classes each semester. These appointments begin the third week and continue until registration begins. The advisor will review requirements, help plan next semesters classes, and do some long range planning. If you are undecided in your major, your advisor will suggest classes to explore possible majors while also completing the University Core Curriculum and College of Science requirements. Coming to early advisement allows you more time to consider your options and plan your schedule well before registration begins. Registration is accomplished using SalukiNet or by coming to the Advisement Office when registration begins and having your courses entered by the office staff. WEB REGISTRATION is done using SalukiNet and is the preferred method. Some classes are so popular that they close up quickly, sometimes within the first hour of registration. If you want to get a particular course or a schedule that works best with your work block or your commuting schedule, you are strongly urged to use WEB registrations early in the day on the first day of registration. OPEN REGISTRATION begins the first day of registration and continues until the end of the semester. The advisor will review requirements, suggest courses for the next semester, and register you for your classes. There is much less time for general questions and long range planning as registration must also be accomplished during the half hour appointment. As the semester progresses, more and more classes close and you will have less to choose from. GRADUATING SENIOR APPOINTMENTS should be made the semester before your last semester, and they should be made during Early Advisement. Two advisors will double check your record before you come to the appointment. This assures that nothing is missed and no problems arise at the last minute. You will be advised as to your remaining requirements, a MAJOR CHECK will be filled out and sent to the major department for approval, and a GRADUATION CLEARANCE will be filled out and sent to the Office of Admissions and Records. You will receive a GRADUATION APPLICATION which is due in the Office of Admissions and Records by the end of the first week of the semester you are graduating. You cannot graduate without all the proper paper work. The Graduation Application is only one part of the procedure. As a graduating senior, you should register early. Do not assume graduating seniors are automatically given closed class cards. |
