Student Awards - National*
- Six 1st place finalists in the National research paper competition each receive a $16,000 undergraduate tuition scholarship (including the award made at the regional level, a total $18,000 scholarship) from the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force.

- Six 2nd place finalists in the National research paper competition will each receive a $6,000 undergraduate tuition scholarship (including the award made at the regional level, a total $7,500 scholarship) from the U.S. Army , Navy, and Air Force.

- Six 3rd place finalists in the National research paper competition will each receive a $2,000 undergraduate tuition scholarship (including the award made at the regional level, a total $3,000 scholarship) from the U.S. Army , Navy, and Air Force.

- The U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force support an expense-paid trip to the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) for the six 1st place finalists of the National JSHS research paper competition. LIYSF brings together over 400 participants some 60 nations in an atmosphere of scientific debate and international exchange. This two-week program is held at London University. NOTE: Students must be at least age 17 by the date of the LIYSF.
* Successive wins: The Guidelines will be revised to allow student winners to compete in JSHS in successive years; however, the total scholarship awards will be capped at a maximum of $30,000 per individual student winner.
* Eligible JSHS regional and national scholarship winners must
- Maintain a GPA equivalent to a "B" (i.e. 3.0 on a 4.0 scale)
- Demonstrate the status of full-time enrollment in an accredited institution
- Pursue a degree in the sciences, engineering, or mathematics
- Hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
