How Do I Participate?
In the fall, application materials are mailed to all public and private high schools in the state of Illinois, excluding Cook County.
Each high school may nominate up to four (4) students; additional student names may be submitted only on a space available basis.
Teachers should nominate students who have demonstrated an interest in and an aptitude for scientific studies. They may be nominated as a paper presenter, poster presenter, or participant only. Although the four (4) students nominated from each each school do not have to present papers to participate, it is strongly encouraged, as this is a primary focus of the Symposium.
The IJSHS nomination form must be signed by both the accompanying teacher and the principal.
