and Humanities Symposium
Student Awards - Regional*
- The regional symposium scholarships are awarded as follows: $2,000 to 1st place, $1,500 to 2nd place, and $1,000 to 3rd place.
These scholarship awards are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finalists of the
IJSHS research paper presentations, and are payable upon matriculation at the universities of the students' choice. Sponsors: U.S. Departments of the Army, Navy,
and Air Force.
- SIUC Scholarship Matching Awards, valued up to $4,500
This scholarship money ($2,000, $1,500, and $1,000) is awarded as matching awards to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finalists of the
IJSHS research paper presentations, if the students major in science at SIUC. Sponsor: The College of Science at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
- An expense-paid trip to attend the National JSHS. The 45th National is May 2-6, 2007, in Huntsville, Alabama.
The U.S. Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force sponsor
five finalists from the Illinois JSHS to attend the National JSHS. The 1st and 2nd place finalists will be invited to present their research and compete equally for additional prizes at the National JSHS.
- IJSHS medal
A commemorative medal is awarded to all paper and poster presenters.
- $50 cash award
The College of Science sponsors a cash award
for the 1st place finalists of the paper and poster presentations.
* Eligible JSHS regional and national scholarship winners must:
- Maintain a GPA equivalent to a "B" (i.e. 3.0 on a 4.0 scale)
- Demonstrate the status of full-time enrollment in an accredited institution
- Pursue a degree in the sciences, engineering, or mathematics
- Hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
