Here's some unofficial information We've gathered about the smart podiums: Software - The podiums come with the standard array of MS Office Products, Adobe Acrobat, and a host of media players. If you find that you need some particular software not available on the podiums, Instructional Services can help. Contact them to see how to add software. Public Drive - Smart Podiums require that you log in using your campus network ID. Once you authenticate, you may notice there is a Public Drive icon on the desktop much like the one in the column to the left. You can place files on the public drive from your office computer making your files available at any smart podium:
BEWARE!! This is not a storage area! The name of the drive speaks volumes. I don't think there's a problem with leaving files on there if you plan on using them. The drive itself has 11 GB of storage space. The individual who administers the drive told me that he can provide further security on files placed in the public drive upon request. Check with Lawson Hall for further details.
Smartboard Presentations Smart Sympodium software runs at all podiums. The software from Smarttech.com provides a suite of presentation oriented software geared toward education. Smart Notebook - The same software that allows you to manipulate the display is available for you to download on your own computer. You can develop presentations in the comfort of your own office and move them to the public drive for use at any podium site. Much like PowerPoint, you can create pages and reveal them in succession. You can add Graphics to Smart Notebook pages. I saw about 20 pages of collections including many science and education related collections. Training - Lawson Hall can introduce you to the capabilities of the software. There are a series of free webcast lessons and tutorials from Smart Tech. on how to use the software.
