Student Awards and Scholarships Available in Zoology at SIUC Undergraduate Awards: Alumni Scholarship for Zoology Undergraduates Certificate + $1000 (1 to 3 annual awards/ amount may vary from 500-1000 @) Scholarship awarded to outstanding Zoology undergraduate students in recognition of high scholastic achievement and dedication to the field of Zoology. William George Memorial Award Certificate + $750 (single recipient, $450 @ multiple recipients). An award presented to fund a senior research project or as an undergraduate tuition scholarship for a student who is considering going on to graduate school in an area related to zoology. Charles L. Foote Achievement Award Certificate + $750. An annual award given to senior or junior undergraduate in recognition of academic achievement and/or involvement in Zoology. The recipient must have completed 96 hours of college work including 20 hours in Zoology. Jan Martan Non-Traditional Student Award in Zoology Certificate + $1000. Presented to a non-traditional zoology student (undergraduate or graduate) in recognition of dedication, hard work and career potential. Jan Martan Undergraduate Student Award Certificate and $1000. Presented to an undergraduate zoology major in recognition of dedication, hard work and career potential. Carter-Kenney Endowed Scholarship Certificate + $750. Awarded to a junior, senior or graduate student majoring in Zoology with an interest in Wildlife or Fisheries Biology who has the potential to make a significant contribution to the field. Hilda Stein Scholarship Certificate + $500. Awarded to an outstanding student (graduate or undergraduate) pursing an interest in ornithology and/or conservation. Richard E. Blackwelder Award in Zoology Certificate and Book of Recipients choice. Presented to a graduate or undergraduate student for unusual accomplishments in any one or more capacities of scholarship, research, and teaching. Walleyes Unlimited Scholarship Certificate and $2000. Awarded to an undergraduate zoology student who has demonstrated career potential and dedication to the field of fish biology. William Hill Scholarship Certificate and $2000 (2 annual awards). Awarded to an undergraduate zoology student on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Illinois Federation for Outdoor Resources (IFOR) Undergraduate Scholarship Certificate and $1000. Awarded to an undergraduate student in Zoology taking a program of study with emphasis in fisheries or wildlife. Preference will be given to an individual with an individualized curriculum meeting academic requirements for certification as either a Fishery or Wildlife Ecologist. Graduate Awards: Florence and Charles Foote Outstanding Teaching Assistant in Zoology Certificate + $500. Presented to the teaching assistant who has demonstrated the most outstanding performance during the current academic year. Richard E. Blackwelder Award in Zoology Certificate and Book of Recipients choice. Presented to a graduate or undergraduate student for unusual accomplishments in any one or more capacities of scholarship, research, and teaching. Carter-Kenney Endowed Scholarship Certificate + $750. Awarded to a junior, senior or graduate student majoring in Zoology with an interest in Wildlife or Fisheries Biology who has the potential to make a significant contribution to the field. Richard R. Kudo Memorial Award in Zoology Certificate + $200. Awarded to graduate students for an outstanding thesis or dissertation. Hilda Stein Scholarship Certificate + $500. Awarded to an outstanding student (graduate or undergraduate) pursing an interest in ornithology and/or conservation biology. Jan Martan Non-Traditional Student Award in Zoology Certificate + $1000. Presented to a non-traditional zoology student (undergraduate or graduate) in recognition of dedication, hard work and career potential.
