Area of Research Emphasis: Conservation BiologyConservation biology is the study of phenomena that affect the maintenance, loss, and restoration of biological diversity. It is an interdisciplinary field drawing from ecology, evolution, biogeography, population genetics, economics, sociology, law, anthropology, philosophy, and natural-resource management with the goal of maintaining biodiversity. The challenge of conservation biology is to preserve the world’s flora and fauna, as well as functioning, which are the life-support system of the planet and determine our own survival and well-being.
