Bachelor's Degree Requirements


All majors must complete the University Core Curriculum and College of Science Academic Requirements in addition to the Zoology requirements below.

B.A. Degree
  • Mathematics: one course in statistics, computer science or calculus
  • Physical Science: one year of chemistry or physics with laboratory
  • Introductory Biology: BIOL 200A, 200B
  • Biology Core: BIOL 305 (Genetics); BIOL 307 (Ecology);
  •     BIOL 309 (Developmental) or Zool 300 (Vertebrate Embryology)
        or ZOOL 304 (Evolution)
  • Electives: 18-19 hours of 300-400 level coursework in Zoology
  • Senior Seminar: ZOOL 482
  • General Electives: 23-24 hours


  • B.S. Degree
  • Mathematics: two courses in statistics, computer science or calculus
  • Physical Science: two years of chemistry and/or physics with laboratory
  • Introductory Biology: BIOL 200A, 200B
  • Biology Core: BIOL 305 (Genetics); BIOL 307 (Ecology);
  •     BIOL 309 (Developmental) or Zool 300 (Vertebrate Embryology)
        or ZOOL 304 (Evolution)
  • Electives: 18-19 hours of 300-400 level coursework in Zoology
