This specimen of skin is peculiar.  Unlike ordinary human skin, it lacks sweat glands and has bundles of smooth muscle paralleling the epithelial surface.

Week 3 -- Look for connective tissue of dermis beneath the epidermis.

Week 2 -- Find stratified squamous epithelium (on surface).
