Slide 89

Human skin.  Unusual stain. Elastic fibers may be more evident than in ordinary H&E stained preparations.

Week 3 -- Look for connective tissue -- the fibrous dermis beneath the epidermis.

Week 2 -- Find stratified squamous epithelium (on surface), cuboidal epithelium (sweat glands).

Week 1 -- Find stratified squamous epithelium

The epidermis is a keratinized stratified squamous epithelium; for comparison, Slide 7 provides an example of non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium.

For more, see skin, also slides 10, 43, 92.

Also see epithelial tissue.
