Welcome to Dr. Matt Whiles'
Freshwater Ecology Lab. Dr. Whiles and his students are involved in a
wide range of projects, most of which focus on stream and wetland ecosystem
ecology. Our current projects and interests include: ecology and
management of tallgrass prairie streams, large river floodplain ecology,
ecological consequences of declining biodiversity in tropical streams, ecological
roles of invertebrates and amphibians in freshwater systems, and stream and
